The Flat Rock Playhouse
The Flat Rock Playhouse is located in one of the earliest settlements in the state. In fact, the entire community of Flat Rock is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and perhaps the most well known attraction in the town is the Flat Rock Playhouse. How many small towns can you name that have their very own distinguished symphony orchestra? Hendersonville NC is a special place, an idyllic, historic town filled with numerous wonderful things including its very own Hendersonville Symphony. The Heritage Museum of Henderson County
The Henderson County Heritage Museum brings history alive with its exhibits on the early inhabitants and settlers to Hendersonville NC. Here you can learn more about the Cherokee Indians that once hunted and camped on the lands, and see what life was really like for those early pioneers who settled in what was largely a vast wilderness. Housed inside the recently restored Historic Henderson County Courthouse, the museum is filled with an extensive collection of early artifacts. Western North Carolina Air Museum
The Western North Carolina Air Museum was the first air museum in the "First in Flight" state and features replicas of antique and vintage airplanes. The museum is open and free to the public, so bring the whole family, and be sure not to forget your camera; you will want to snap a picture next to some of these unique "birds". Hands On! Children’s Gallery
Hands On! is an imaginative wonderland filled with fun, safe children's exhibits that make education and learning exciting for everyone. The Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design
This gallery is located inside the UNCA Kellogg Center in Hendersonville and showcases ongoing exhibitions from regional professional artists. As an endeavor of the University of North Carolina. The Mineral and Lapidary Museum
The Henderson County Mineral and Lapidary Museum houses natural artifacts including the Hendersonville meteorite which is on loan from the Smithsonian Institution, beautiful geodes, the minerals of North Carolina including neat fluorescent varieties, diamond replicas, fossils including an amazing dinosaur egg nest of 6 eggs unearthed in China, and petrified wood. Located just off Main Street in downtown Hendersonville North Carolina in the lower level of the Henderson County Genealogical & Historical Society building, this mineral museum is a great place for rock hounds and other fossil enthusiasts to visit.
